Promoting Community-led Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution in Northern Ghana

Youth as Cornerstone of Peacebuilding
Involving local youth in peacebuilding initiatives is crucial for addressing both the root causes of conflict and secondary drivers of violence. Young people are often at the forefront of societal change, possessing unique insights into the grievances and aspirations of their communities. By actively engaging them in dialogue and decision-making processes, we can foster a sense of ownership and responsibility, empowering youth to become constructive agents of peace. Additionally, their involvement can help dismantle cycles of violence by addressing underlying issues such as inequality, lack of opportunities, and social fragmentation. Ultimately, empowering youth in peacebuilding not only promotes sustainable solutions but also bridges generational divides, leading to a more inclusive and resilient society.
Our Operational Roles
At Youth for Peace and Security – Africa, we empower young people to be active participants in peacebuilding and conflict resolution across the continent. Our operational roles include advocating for the rights of the less privileged, ensuring that their voices are heard and respected. We focus on promoting youth inclusion in decision-making processes, providing training and resources for peace education, and facilitating dialogue in local communities. As a pan-African organization, we partner with stakeholders to promote sustainable development initiatives that enhance security, resilience, and human rights across Africa.

We mobilize and empower local youth, engaging them as active agents in preventing and resolving violent conflicts in their communities and countries. By fostering networks and assigning responsibilities, we enable youth to address conflicts safely, swiftly, effectively, and affordably. Our efforts not only focus on preventing conflicts in peaceful communities but also on facilitating comprehensive peacebuilding initiatives in conflict-affected areas.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the less privileged, ensuring that they are not violated. This involves extending and enhancing basic legal knowledge within communities and institutions. We take the lead in providing legal assistance and pursuing legal avenues to uphold fundamental human rights.
